Nice Bust.

Da Nang is a large and thriving city. Lots of construction going on, especially on China Beach. There are five or six large resorts on the beach right now and probably ten to twelve more under construction--Hyatt and other big international chains are well represented. In five years the place will be unrecognizable.

With the construction and the tourists comes money, especially from Hong Kong and Malaysia. Most of the tourists we encountered were Asian, including a big group of Mercedes dealers having a sales conference at our resort.

So there's a huge market for the local marble sculptors. We stopped at one
of the showrooms to watch them at work.

The place was huge, with sculptures of every description.
Kwan Yin, Jesus, and Mary.
Lions, tigers, and bears.

Grinning Chinese sages.

Pseudo-classical nudes.

But my favorite was this lovely bust of a Native American chief
clutching his pipe.
Wouldn't fit in our suitcase, unfortunately.
