Settling In.

Well, we are and we aren't. On the one hand, things are beginning to make some sense, even seem somewhat familiar. We see many of the same people in our neighborhood every day, we all nod and smile. We know where to go to get certain things like limes and tequila and contact storage solution and bacon. But we miss our family, we miss our friends, we miss our stuff. We like our house, but it doesn't feel like home. There's no color on the walls, no comfortable places to sit. It feels temporary, transitory, part of this new gypsy existence that is exhilarating some days and daunting and flimsy other days.

As I guess you can tell, we've been in funky moods lately with all that's happened. We feel the distance heavily sometimes. So thanks for being there. It definitely feels good knowing that there are people out there who care.

P- when I read this, my heart just went out to you. I can only imagine how isolated you must feel sometime. From here, it seems like you are on a huge adventure - and I am sure it is - but you are also alone: almost halfway around the world from any safety net. We love you guys and miss you. And I understand that on some days the fact that we love you and miss you doesn't mean shit to a tree.

Michele says maybe that's what tequila is for.

Thanks, guys. It's true that bacon and tequila go a long way toward making things all better.
