Yesterday, we wrapped up our working life in Vietnam. I presented a marketing plan and O. taught her last class, to many tears. Then we closed our bank account and transferred our earnings home. Today, we have packed our stuff, given everything we couldn't sell to the neighbors, and are are about ready to move our bags to our friends, Justin and Jyoti's house. We'll stay with them for a couple days, then start a two + weeks tour of Vietnam, paid for by my work with a local travel company. First, we'll be trekking in the mountains near the Chinese border. We'll be glad to get out of the horrible heat--97 plus humidity today--but we'll be without Internet access for four days. We'll return briefly to Hanoi next Friday, then fly to Hue for the next leg of our trip. We will have Internet for the rest of the journey, so we'll post lots of pictures.
This parting from Vietnam is bittersweet. We're very anxious to see our family and friends, but we have met so many lovely people and made such great connections here that it's hard to leave. Much, much to miss.
