Good Morning, Vietnam!

Sorry. Had to get that out of our systems.

We're awake (mostly, O.didn't sleep much last night, so we got up at 4 am today), we're alive, and we're ready to start looking for housing. That's our major goal for the day. Not sure if the rental agencies work on Sunday, but we've been looking on the web and emailing inquiries about likely apartments since we got up, so we'll see.
In the meantime here are some pictures from yesterday.

The view of Hoàn Kiếm Lake from our balcony.

P. meets Pho Ga, the breakfast of champions. Nothing yummier than chicken noodle soup with lots of lime and chilies on a steaming tropical morning. Top it off with strong coffee sweetened with condensed milk and you're ready dodge scooters and cars all day long.

The street outside our hotel is uncharacteristically calm on Saturday morning.

Hanoi has an architecture all its own. Unique zoning codes, too, apparently.

Detail from an old temple.

Dragon head from same.

O. feasts on mango slices with lime, chili powder and finely ground peanuts. Later we had shrimp in spicy sauce, sauteed greens with garlic, and stir-fried duck with chili and vegetables, chased with cold, delicious local beer and a gin and tonic. We may languish from the humidity, definitely not from hunger.
